HELSINKI TRAVEL JOURNAL

My first journey up north, (further north than Kiel in Germany that is).  Spending 10 days in Finland was such an amazing experience: exploring Helsinki with my Finish friend Peppi, a day trip to Estonia, hiking in national parks and cruising around the Archipelago on a speedy boat. Helsinki as a city is just beautiful, packed with cool cafés and inspiring people, cute boutiques, restaurants, museums – and so, so much water everywhere. So here is to my first time up North, my great Finnish host and nordic summers spent on a boat.

160824_100-12 160824_100We found this awesome place while exploring Kallio, a super nice neighbourhood in the north of Helsinki. A city guide with all the best places you shouldn’t miss is coming up soon.160824_100-6helsinki-002160820_100-43160820_100-49Helsinki’s Design District is packed with cute shops. One advice: don’t go if you’re having a hard time not being able to buy things because you thought travelling light is a good idea and only travel with hand luggage. helsinki-001160820_100-50 160820_100-46 I asked and I think it says something to convince you to come in. And again, facing all those beautiful Finish little things wasn’t easy – thanks to an abundance of cute notebooks, too-nice-to-use tea towels and other white, cool, minimalistic stuff.160820_100-45 160820_100-56160820_100-54

Also, having worked on my new blog for weeks and weeks now, a super big thanks to Paul for his help with setting the whole thing up and moving all my old posts to wordpress, and Carolina for the beautiful design. I am so happy how it turned out and also, SO ready to go a little bit more professional and make this blog my main project again – next to reading Foucault and learning about Neurons but oh well…

You can still access my old blog on blogspot but I felt like it was time for a big change.  Suuuper excited to hear your feedback so please let me know what you think of it! There are still some things to be adjusted and changed and a portfolio might follow soon as well but it’s a start.
