About a month ago we traveled through Tasmania for 5 days and I loved it so much I could have easily spent 3 weeks on the island. I was so happy to finally have made it there, after seeing a video filmed there, played on a screen in my uni library in Amsterdam for about half a year every day. It exceeded all my expectations: Hobart was super cute and I couldn’t stop taking photos while walking around, we drove through forest and mountains, spend an afternoon at the most beautiful empty beach, visited the worldfamous MONA and hiked in the pouring rain – with a group of 7 and it couldn’t have been more fun.

The first bunch of photos is taken in Hobart, where we started the trip, spending the afternoon walking around the picture-perfect streets of Battery Point. We watched the sunset from the summit of Mount Wellington, spent the next morning exploring the MONA – Museum of Old and New Art, absolute Must Do – and then drove to the Tasman National Park, where we walked around, enjoying the light and beautiful coastline.

There’s another bunch of photos coming up soon – Part II – and then I will prepare a little travel guide to Tasmania before starting to post the photos taken in New Zealand. A lot of work ahead but I’m enjoying it so much, being back in Melbourne, sitting for hours in my favourite cafés while editing photos and drinking iced coffee with the few friends that are still in Melbourne. And BBQing with my housemates at night, spending afternoons at the beach, walking up and down Brunswick Street to see what is new in the shops, and planning my last trip here in Australia. And slowly getting used to the thought of flying home in a few weeks. Not ready for that quite yet but I sure will be when it’s happening.

Merry Christmas everyone! X
